The cost. That is one of the main factors everybody wants to know when its time to refinish their hardwood floors. Some companies charge a per square foot price while others charge based on what it actually takes to successfully complete the project.
If you search the web you will find square foot pricing ranging from $1.99 to $6.00 or more per square foot for those companies that charge by the square foot. Let me say that if you are paying by the square foot and you are paying less than $3.00 a square foot then you are getting ripped off and wasting your money. We’ve sanded a lot of floors and to get a minimum quality job that will last a while using a quality finish and the proper sanding process it costs at least $3.00 a foot just to pay for the job, not counting overhead and profit. So to do a job for less than that a company has to cut corners somewhere.
So what is our square foot price? Well we do not charge by the square foot. Square foot pricing is a poor way to price a job because there is so many variables involved and no two floors are the same. We have sanded 200 sq ft floors that took more time and materials than 500 sq ft floors. Sq ft pricing just doesn’t work. We price jobs by what it takes to get the job done to a high standard using quality materials so that you can enjoy your floor for many years to come.
So how can you find out how much it will cost to have your hardwood floors refinished? Well we have a process for that. If you are just searching and want to get some general numbers together then our free estimates are perfect for you. What we require is for you to send us some basic pictures of your project, the size and a description of what you would like done. We will then have about a 20 minute phone conversation to make sure we are both on the same page about what you want and then we can give you a pretty good idea of what it would cost to refinish your floors.
How can we give you a price based on pictures you may ask? Well I have been doing this for over 20 years so I have seen thousands of floors and have a pretty good idea of what a project will take to complete. This method saves us both a lot of time and most of our clients really appreciate that.
If you are ready to hire immediately and need a firm price and a detailed plan of action then an onsite consultation is what you will need. We still recommend starting with the free estimate first just to make sure you like us and that we will be a good fit for you. There is a charge for the onsite consultation so the free estimate is a good starting point. If you choose the onsite consultation we will set up a time to meet you at your home where I will share my over 20 years of knowledge with you and come up with a plan on how to make your floors look beautiful again. If you choose to hire us the consultation fee gets waived and the money becomes a deposit on the invoice to get you on our schedule.
